My take
What a beautiful and tragic movie. I knew this movie was a famous one, but I didn't know anything about it going in. I'm watching it as part of my three-part prep for the Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, which I'll see next week. So I'm doing Lawrence of Arabia for epic / swords and sandals. But I didn't know it was made in the early 1960s about WWI. It was a moving portrait of a man. The scenery exceeded my expectations both in the image quality (glad I got to watch the restored 4k version), and in the desert scenery. It was stunning and a few scenes reminded me of Sarat from last year. The thing about getting into movies like I have been is that I want to read the book, watch the movie four times, watch the directors commentary, watch a documentary about the making of it, and etc etc etc. I look forward to watching this again sometime in the future, but I won't be racing to do it.
