My take

Icky. That’s the word that kept coming to mind. The acting is good, Pattinson and Gisondo are great. I’ve never been a fan of reality tv. It’s mostly very gross. And with so much incredible content out there in all forms of media why people choose that as their vice I don’t know. So then you layer on top of this icky format a host that is gross and compromised in other ways. I don’t know. The plot also only sort of worked for me. I was under the impression this was about a man who spirals out of control. But it was much subtler, darker, and …again…ickier than that. Not a big fan. And I know people are talking about this one as Pattinson’s Oscar chance. But I liked his performance in The Drama much more. The Gisondo performance on the other hand was awesome and totally locked in. Loved it.

About the film

In 2006, To Catch a Predator host Chris Hansen sets out to make television history. When a high stakes operation goes fatally wrong, his veneered dream of fame curdles into a nightmare of performative justice.
