My take

It’s not funny. It’s sad. So sad. Why was everyone around me laughing. The movie felt like it was punching down. It felt disrespectful. It was kind of dumb at moments too (). Slow like Poetry and Burning. But whereas at least those ones had great women leads. I didn’t even particularly like the women in this one either. I haven’t seen a lot of Korean film, but they all seem to be about class struggle. And the only one I felt works for me is Parasite. This movie just didn’t work for me, and maybe it was because I was surrounded by Koreans who seemed to love it and laughed real hard and I kept asking myself, “what am I missing” but it never clicked. It was fun to come VIP with Visa colleagues and go to the event beforehand even though I didn’t know anyone going in.

About the film

A laid-off worker and his wife cross paths with a documentary filmmaker and her spouse and confront their hidden desires.
