My take

When do the means justify the means. Tough to do a protestor movie where the protestors storm a government building after January 6. To be frank, it made it hard to fully fully get behind them from the beginning. Plus, my rule following instinct isn’t really comfortable with the storming or major disruption parts of protests. So much of the movie was quite uncomfortable to watch. That said, I cried and cried for their struggles. I was cheering for them while simultaneously wishing there was a better way to get it done. I liked it and a solid follow up to Coda. But I liked Coda a lot more than this one. Huge theater and beautiful theater. Q&A with the director and lead actress after was really beautiful. Hilarious transcription live error at the beginning that it said the “city of Testosterone”.

About the film

Scrappy, defiant, and done being treated like a burden, Judy Heumann turns her outrage into a revolution. In 1977, she and more than 100 disability rights protestors send a very loud message: The system is broken—not us.
