My take
Wow! This book first felt like a novel version of an English man's journal about his new love for Japan. But then, the combination of the successful use of Bond's depressed and about to get fired (which we've seen before, but works amazing in this one) with the philosophical explanation of Blofield, the hilarious escape, and then the plot-twist ending with Kissy!!!! My goodness I'm not going to be able to talk about this with Joshie in the podcast tomorrow because I don't want to spoil the book and I just want people to read this one. My goodness far and away the only good bond book from beginning to end. Highly recommend.
